Ingredients:
- 8-10 lasagna noodles
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 egg, beaten
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Fresh basil leaves, chopped (optional)
Step 1: Cook the Lasagna Noodles
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
- Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions.
- Drain and set aside
Step 2: Prepare the Meat Sauce
- Cook the ground beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat until browned, breaking it up into small pieces as it cooks.
- Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet and cook until the onion is translucent.
- Stir in the marinara sauce and bring to a simmer.
- Reduce heat to low and let sauce simmer while you prepare the cheese mixture.
Step 3: Prepare the Cheese Mixture
- In a medium bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, egg, salt, and pepper. Mix well to combine.
- Stir in the shredded mozzarella cheese and grated Parmesan cheese.
Step 4: Assemble the Lasagna
- Spread a layer of the meat sauce in the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Arrange 4 lasagna noodles on top of the meat sauce.
- Spread half of the cheese mixture over the noodles.
- Repeat the layers, starting with the meat sauce, noodles, and cheese mixture.
- Top the final layer of noodles with the remaining meat sauce and sprinkle with mozzarella cheese.
Step 5: Bake the Lasagna
- Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 30 minutes.
- Remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Step 6: Let it Rest
- Remove the lasagna from the oven and let it rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing and serving.
